The season of harvest of citrus in Adzharia has already begun. The Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Bakur Kvezereli opened a co-ordinate staff in Batumi, for a successful delivery of citrus this season. In Georgia, supposedly the harvest of citrus will be 55 thousand tones. The first lot of citrus was sent in Ukraine by a ferryboat. In future, the export of citrus will be carried out in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Today the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia , Bakur Kvezereli and the owner of Italian Company “Ferero”, Maurizio Kortes have attended the presentation of a new project. Within the bounds of this project, the chocolate production company “Ferero” will build two nut processing plants. Italian company bought great amount of land plot, where nut plantation will be cultivated. 300 socially unprotected local citizens will be employed there and the celery will consist about 500 lari. 2 million dollars were investigated in this project.

This year the harvest of grapes in Racha was held. 2610 tones of grapes were gathered. 630 tones were processed by wine plants. To make “Khvanchkara” wine, 497 tones of “Aleksandrouli” and “Murjureuli” grapes were processed.
As for “Tsolikauri”, 130 tones were taken by wine plants

The Minister of Agriculture , Bakur Kvezereli held an excessive briefing for journalists. According to the order of the minister, the realization of forest mushrooms are prohibited. At the latest time, the facts of poisoning is increasing and that’s why on the roads, at the markets, and in all food selling places all kinds of forest mushrooms ‘ realization and usage is prohibited. The prohibition will go on until the reason of this fact won’t be found out.
According to official data from October 15 up today, in different regions of Georgia nearly 100 people were poisoned by mushrooms.

The information announced in press about wheat crisis is not true. Georgia is a country, which imports wheat and is closely connected with world market’s current events. The fluctuation of world price in the world market influences on Georgia inner market. The country uses 750-800 tones of wheat in a year.
One tone of wheat imported in Georgia without excise costs 320-340 dollars, according to 15 September data.
The price of one tone wheat in the mill enterprise was 46-47 lari, but for September, one tone of wheat was already 43-44 lari. According to wheat rate, its price was reduced to 2-3 lari. After that, the price shortening process is observed.
Reducing the price is caused by season. In winter, wheat price fluctuation is acceptable, but it will not reflect on bread price, as the country has much stock. At the same time, the wheat harvest in export and manufactured countries was plentiful and the deficit is not feasible. According to fruitful harvest in Europe, the Euro-commission in UN countries, established wheat limitation. This decision will reflect on wheat export amount and the surplus wheat flow will be distributed in alternative directions.
According to the situation in world market, and also the geographical location, the deficit of wheat is not taken into consideration in Georgia. According to15 October operative data, 74005 wheat stock is in Georgia, which is about 3 months’ stock.

 On Saturday, October 25, Tea Festival will be held in Cotton Queue from 12:00 till 17:00.
The initiators are: The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, the Association of tea producers and as for the financial supporters, they are: International Organization “The Caucasus Business and Development Network”, ”International Alert” and “Bazisbank”.
The festival is considered to be a support and a stimulator of local producers and tea culture.
Tea festival was founded last year with the help of “Bazisbank”.
This year the festival is going to be held for the second time and tea growers from Turkish republic and Caucasus region will take part in it.
The festival’s main task is, developing of the economical stimulation, fulfilling collective economical projects in conflict regions, local ,middle, and mini superintendents support of tea growers, also the popularization of natural Caucasus tea among users and mastering inner market.
The unique tea variety from Caucasus regions will be kept within the bounds of the festival.
The united Caucasus tea brands will be produced with the initiative of “ The Caucasus Business and Development Network”, within the bounds of general Caucasus economical cooperation.
Presentation and tasting of green, black and different curable tea, competition among the products will be held in this festival.
“ The mission of tea festival is to support common economical projects’ fulfilling in conflict region, tea popularization, Caucasus tea growers’ unity in the region, saving tea brand, developing tea products, taking tea in a new market ,mastering inner markets, keeping and developing tea growers’ traditions in the Caucasus.”- says The Executor Director of Georgian tea Producers Association Tengiz Svanidze.
The representatives from Georgian parliament and government will attend the festival.

 The Advertisement About Tender Holding.

1. The Ministry of Agriculture, situated in Tbilisi, Marshal Gelobavi Avenue N6, according to the 2008 program- “Rehabilitation of Irrigating System”, due to money protrude, announces the Open Tender on buying in rehabilitation of irrigative system, invites all interested candidates.

   E. The reference from a Tax Organ, that the person is not obliged to the budget.
   F. The person taking part in the tender, must have a reference, that shows his or her early works in the same fields. The reference must have an attached copies of a treatment and receive-delivery acts.
   G. The reference must include the person’ material- technical base.

5. All the documents required according to the tender advertisement have to be introduced as an origin or proved by notary.

Food and Agricultural Organization FAO’s project “To strengthen Marketing research and strategies” is cooperating with the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, already for a year.
The main aim of this cooperation is to strengthen the Marketing and Agricultural research.
FAO project TGP/GEO/3102 (FAO) was begun in October and till today, within the bounds of this project, 33 teaching and practical seminars were held for Georgian agricultural specialists.
The first working presentation was held at the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, within the bounds of the project, which was open by the officer of FAO project Olivio Argent. He talked much about the assist work and he mentioned again, that FAO will still help Georgian specialists in researching marketing, receive and analyze information, working out and learning export supporting.
The project will last till the end of 2009.

This year grape harvest is 145 thousand tone. “ Vinetage-2008” staff in Gurjaani, the hotel “Rebi- Gurjaani” will be set in motion tomorrow. The Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli
will lead this staff.

This year, the State will help vine-growers for the first time. In every one kilo of Rkatsiteli, vine-growers’ will receive 15 tetri, and in every one kilo of Saperavi 25 tetri. The People’ Bank
will make it in cash in 3 days after grape delivery.

“Vinetage-2008” will last at the end of September, and after that it will be held in other parts of Georgia too. The Agricultural staff will be opened in Racha. The divided supsidia will be taken into consideration on Alexandroul-Mujuretuli grape species,- in each kilo 1 lari.

In August 7, in Kvareli, in Kindzmarauli”’s plant, vine-grower farmers’ group and chief of the plant signed in advanced agreement. The aim of this agreement is production of the high quality grapes and its guaranteed realization.

This mentioned activities was fulfilled with the help of GTZ project. “The formulation of vine quality in Georgia” based the system in viticulture-wineculture, which answers the UN active legislation.

This is an important newness in Georgia. Agriculture, as this kind of fact was never fulfilled before.

An International experience is taken into consideration in this agreement, which will guarantee the high quality of grape and high quality grape is important for the highest quality wine production.
On the other hand , in case of fulfilling all the requirements in agreement , vine-grower farmers will have a guarantee to sell their products in available prize. After that they will have more wish to improve grape quality indicator. This newness will help to improve vine quality and to form such vine quality system which will make Georgian vine competitive in the world market.

At the meeting, vine-grower farmers mentioned that signing agreements with wine producers diminishes risks and will help to increase the harvest. poison-chemical control must be organized in Georgia, because using none quality pestisides in Kakheti harvest was mainly diminished.

The similar agreements has already been signed between ltd “Vine+” ,”Tsinandali Old wine-cellar” and local farmers.

In order to get more qualification and gain more experience, wine producers and vine-growers groups in June, were in Rainhens and Raingau around the GTZ project. In these regions the beforehand agreements between vine-growers and wine producers are already fulfilled for some years, which helps to grow, realize and produce high quality wine.

The GTZ project continues to work with wine producers fund and department of Vine and Wine “Samtresti”, and in future it will help to get harvest without losing and to improve vine-growers’ social conditions.

The representatives of Agricultural sphere from Mangistau region of Kazakhstan Republic are on their official visit in Georgia. The leader of this delegation is the head of Agriculture Management of Mangistau region Karmis Bukanov.
The head of “Employer Union” of Mangistau region Mukhtar Zharilganov, the General Director of “Argoservice centre” Karzhau Akulov and the businessmen are among the delegation.
Today the members of the delegation have met with the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Bakur Kvezereli .The export of Georgian products in Kazakhstan, the common usage of agricultural-economic places, creation of common procuremental fruit and vegetable points were discussed at this meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Bakur Kvezereli mentioned that, intended agreement will be signed between Georgia and Kazakhstan, this will help Georgian products to export in Kazakhstan.
The guests visited farming thrifts in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Adzharia, Shida Kartli and Kvemo Kartli which produce fruit, vegetable and other kind of products.
The guests from Kazakhstan are interested in exporting Georgian products, fruit and vegetables in their country, because 85% of products are imported in Mangustau.
The delegation will leave Georgia tomorrow.
