The 2018-2020 Action Plan to support rural development, targeted at implementing 69 programs was approved by the Rural Development Coordination Council of Georgia. The First Deputy Minister, Nodar Kereselidze headed the meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture. According to Nodar Kereselidze, the three-year plan aiming to provide welfare for rural population includes specific tasks to be implemented by all agencies involved in rural development.
" 69 programs embracing different directions are included in the action plan document through which the goals and objectives set in the strategy will be implemented within three years.The programs are focused on the well-being of rural population aiming to improve social conditions in rural areas.
The document is comprised of activities that should be performed in the field of environment, including sustainable management of forest protected areas, implementation of relevant plans, including rural infrastructure development, increasing capability and knowledge of rural population, also diversification of economic activities and modernization of agriculture. Overall, the three-year budget of these programs amounts about a billion 700 million GEL. "Nodar Kereselidze said. The Head of Economic Development Team of UNDP, Giorgi Nanobashvili underlined the importance of the approved plan.
"The three-year plan approved by the United Nations Development Program is actively engaged in the implementation of the technical assistance component, which helps government agencies and non-governmental organizations and all parties in implementing effective coordination, developing their skills, planning and implementing a policy, which will further bring the tangible effect in rural areas.The above mentioned action plan is actually targeted at specific tasks, that should be implemented within 3 years "- said Nanobashvili.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genady Arveladze highlighted three-year action plan related issues including rural entrepreneurship and tourism development projects implemented by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development to support sustainable economic growth in rural areas.
The Deputy Minister of Justice noted, that with respect of rural development, the Ministry will improve the quality of service delivery in different regions. Today, the representatives of all Ministries engaged in the Inter-Agency Coordination Council participated in the meeting.
The Action Plan adopted by the Inter-Agency Coordinating Council today will be approved at the Government Meeting next week.
